Blue Life Hub and AJEM Djerba launch a new partnership for the future of the sea and coastal communities

The Mediterranean is more than a sea. It is a shared space where people, nature, culture and economic opportunities are deeply connected. Protecting this heritage requires cooperation, knowledge sharing and the active involvement of local communities.

With this vision, Blue Life Hub is pleased to announce a new partnership with AJEM Djerba (Association Jlij for Marine Environment) https://www.ajem.tn/  a Tunisian non-governmental organization that has been working since 2014 to promote a sustainable future for the marine environment and coastal communities.

Based on the island of Djerba, AJEM has developed an integrated approach that combines environmental education, marine biodiversity monitoring, participatory conservation, sustainable tourism, scientific outreach and community engagement. Its activities bring together schools, young people, fishermen, tourism operators, researchers and local institutions around a common goal: protecting the sea while creating opportunities for people.

A partnership built on local action and shared values

The association regularly organizes environmental awareness campaigns, educational workshops, ecological field activities and biodiversity monitoring missions in the Marine and Coastal Protected Areas. These activities contribute to the protection of some of Tunisia’s most valuable coastal ecosystems while helping build a stronger environmental culture among future generations. By actively involving local communities, AJEM demonstrates that awareness, education and participation are the foundations of long-term sustainability.

For Blue Life Hub, this partnership represents another step in building a growing Mediterranean and African network of organizations, researchers, institutions, entrepreneurs and coastal communities committed to a common vision of the future.

This is exactly the kind of experience that Blue Life Hub wants to share with an international audience, particularly across the Mediterranean and Africa, in order to inspire people and highlight the work being done.

Building a stronger Mediterranean and African blue network

The partnership is built on common values. Both organizations believe that a sustainable Blue Economy cannot exist without healthy marine ecosystems, informed communities and cooperation between science, education, institutions and local stakeholders.

Through this collaboration, Blue Life Hub will help give international visibility to AJEM’s work while creating opportunities to exchange experiences, share good practices, promote initiatives across the Mediterranean and Africa, and develop new project opportunities. The collaboration will focus on marine conservation, coastal community development, sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, environmental education, responsible tourism and innovative solutions that support both nature and local economies.

By connecting people, ideas and practical experiences, Blue Life Hub and AJEM Djerba aim to promote solutions that protect the sea while supporting sustainable economic development and improving the quality of life of coastal communities.

Because the future of the Blue Economy starts with informed people, healthy ecosystems and strong partnerships.
