The recent funding round has catapulted Phycom into a new phase of expansion and consolidation. The goal is clear: to produce microalgae products with ‘consistent, high quality on an industrial scale’. Among Phycom’s enthusiastic supporters is Corbion, a leading Dutch food and biochemical company. Investors recognised the crucial importance of microalgae in the food industry of tomorrow. Boudewijn Poelmann, founder of Phase2.earth, emphasised: ‘Microalgae will be a key ingredient in the food of the future and will contribute to a more sustainable world. This comment reflects the growing awareness of the urgency of a transition to more sustainable food practices.

Invest-NL, one of Phycom’s investors, is at the forefront of promoting innovative alternative protein technologies. Daan Meijer, investment associate at Invest-NL, emphasised: ‘Our goal is to accelerate the transition to a sustainable food system by investing in innovative alternative protein technologies. The role of microalgae in this transition and Phycom’s unique technology and large-scale production make us exceptionally proud to add it to our investment portfolio.”
