Blue2Market: a sustainable vision for the blue economy future in Algeria

Algeria has officially launched Blue2Market, a Go-To-Market program designed to support innovation in the blue economy, fisheries, and aquaculture sectors. Funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries and the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Startups and Micro-Enterprises, the program—executed by the incubator Leancubator—aims to help startups and entrepreneurs transform their innovative ideas into viable market-ready businesses

As the world moves toward more sustainable economic models, the blue economy emerges as a key opportunity—especially for coastal nations like Algeria.

In this context, the Blue Economy, Fisheries, and Aquaculture Program, funded by the European Union in Algeria, has launched Blue2Market, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries and the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-Enterprises.

This new initiative seeks to support innovative entrepreneurs and startups working in sectors such as fisheries, aquaculture, shipbuilding, marine biotechnology, marine waste valorization, and digital solutions for the blue economy.

By helping innovators develop sustainable and competitive business models, Blue2Market represents a concrete step toward building a dynamic blue entrepreneurship ecosystem in Algeria, one that aligns with Mediterranean and global sustainability goals.

Intensive Mentorship and Market Access Opportunities

Under this program, six innovative projects will be selected to benefit from intensive mentorship and tailored support focused on preparing their market entry strategies.

Participants will gain access to specialized training workshops, strategic networking opportunities, and national and Mediterranean visibility. The program will also provide hands-on guidance to strengthen each startup’s business model, marketing plan, and investment readiness.

The implementation is led by Leancubator a well-established Algerian incubator known for its experience in supporting startups through the critical “go-to-market” phase.

This initiative offers a unique opportunity for Algerian innovators in the maritime sector to turn their ideas into impactful, scalable ventures while connecting with local and regional investors.

Investing in People is Investing in the Future

Programs like Blue2Market deserve to be encouraged and supported because they focus on what truly drives progress: training and capacity building.

Algeria possesses vast marine resources and promising opportunities within its blue economy. However, to unlock this potential, there is a growing need for structured training, mentorship, and innovation-oriented ecosystems that can elevate the sector to international standards.

As the saying goes:

“A trained person produces more.”

By empowering entrepreneurs with knowledge and practical skills, Blue2Market could become a catalyst for transformation—bridging the gap between ideas and market success.

We now look forward to seeing the impact and results of this promising initiative on Algeria’s emerging blue economy landscape.
