Aqaba to Host Landmark “ABOFA” Blue Economy and Dive Convention in 2026

AQABA, JORDAN – In a significant move to position the Red Sea as a premier global hub for marine industry and conservation, organizers have officially announced the launch of ABOFA – Aqaba Blue Ocean: Future in Action.

The convention is the result of a strategic partnership between the Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), 1st Arabia, and Fira Barcelona. By combining international exhibition expertise with regional knowledge, the organizers aim to create the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region’s most influential platform for the “blue economy.”

A Strategic Hub for the Red Sea

Hosted at the Aqaba International Exhibition & Convention Centre (AIECC), ABOFA 2026 is designed to be more than just a trade show. It is envisioned as a “strategic MENA-connected hub,” linking Mediterranean and Red Sea countries through industry collaboration, investment, and technological exchange.

Aqaba, known for its vibrant coral reefs and world-class wreck diving—including the famous “Underwater Military Museum”—provides the ideal backdrop for an event focused on the future of our oceans.

What to Expect at ABOFA 2026

The four-day event will cater to both industry professionals and the general public, featuring a diverse range of sectors:

  • Diving & Water Sports: Showcasing the latest gear, training methodologies, and travel destinations.

  • Marine Technology: Highlighting innovations in underwater exploration, robotics, and maritime infrastructure.

  • The Blue Economy: Focusing on sustainable development, ocean conservation, and renewable marine resources.

  • Coastal Lifestyle: Promoting tourism, wellness, and the unique cultural heritage of the Jordanian coast.

Visitors can expect live demonstrations, interactive experiences, and high-level networking opportunities. For trade professionals, the event will serve as a marketplace for new business opportunities and a forum for discussing sustainable maritime policies.

Promoting Sustainability

A core pillar of the convention is Jordan’s commitment to marine conservation. The event will spotlight local initiatives aimed at protecting the Gulf of Aqaba’s delicate ecosystems while encouraging responsible investment in the tourism and technology sectors. Organizers hope the show will foster a deeper connection between environment-focused industries and the global diving community.

Planning Your Visit

With the event set for September 2026, the global diving community is already taking notice. The convention aligns with a growing interest in Jordan as a top-tier adventure destination, often paired with visits to the ancient city of Petra and the deserts of Wadi Rum.

Registration for exhibitors and participants is expected to open soon via the official event website. As Aqaba prepares to welcome the world, ABOFA 2026 stands to redefine the region’s role in the global maritime landscape.
