SIPA 2025: The 10th Edition of the International Aquaculture and Fisheries Exhibition in Oran

From November 6 to 9, the city of Oran hosted the 10th edition of the International Aquaculture and Fisheries Exhibition, SIPA 2025, with wide national and international participation and an honorable presence from the Sultanate of Oman as the guest of honor. The event served as a strategic platform for exchanging knowledge among professionals, investors, and researchers, enhancing cooperation opportunities in the blue economy, a key driver of sustainable development and food security in Algeria. The exhibition also highlighted the importance of innovation and modern technology in developing the maritime sector, opening new horizons for startups and local and international investors.

This edition featured 180 exhibitors from 17 countries, including 25 foreign companies and 38 Algerian startups, reflecting the growing dynamism of the maritime sector in Algeria. The exhibition provided a unique opportunity for bilateral meetings between national and international investors, scientific and technical workshops, and discussions on the latest innovations in aquaculture and fisheries, including fish production monitoring systems, sustainable feeding techniques, and marine resource protection methods.

Discussion sessions also emphasized integrating scientific research with industrial activity, enhancing partnerships between universities and private companies to ensure technology transfer and the development of national expertise. These initiatives highlight Algeria’s potential to become a leading player in the blue economy in the region.

Sultanate of Oman: Guest of Honor and Pioneering Experience

This edition was distinguished by the presence of the Sultanate of Oman as the guest of honor, reflecting a mutual interest in sharing expertise in the blue economy. Oman possesses extensive experience in sustainable aquaculture and fisheries management, attracting significant interest from both Algerian and international attendees.

During the exhibition, joint meetings between Omani and Algerian experts were held to discuss future collaborative projects, including improving fish farming techniques, developing sustainable marine farms, and advancing scientific research in marine environments. Such cooperation strengthens Algeria’s position as an investment destination and facilitates the transfer of advanced international expertise to the local sector.

Innovation at the Heart of Algerian Startups

The active participation of 38 Algerian startups demonstrated that innovation is the core of the emerging blue economy. These companies presented a diverse range of projects, from digital systems for monitoring fish production and data analysis to technological solutions for sustainable marine resource management and eco-friendly production techniques.

These initiatives also focused on improving production quality and increasing competitiveness in local and international markets, reflecting young Algerians’ commitment to transforming marine challenges into real investment and economic opportunities. The strong presence of innovators confirms that Algeria is capable of developing an advanced maritime sector based on technology and research while preserving natural resources for future generations.

SIPA 2025 served as a platform to highlight these potentials and demonstrate Algeria’s ability to balance economic development with marine environmental protection. The exhibition also promoted an innovation culture among local and international investors, encouraging projects that contribute to a green and sustainable economy.

What we witnessed at SIPA 2025 in Oran goes beyond a trade exhibition; it embodies a new Algerian vision for a diversified and sustainable economy. Integrating scientific research, innovation, and international investment in the fisheries and aquaculture sector represents the best path toward genuine food sovereignty and a balanced environmental economy. This edition of the exhibition confirms that Algeria has the ambition and expertise to build an advanced maritime economy capable of global competition while preserving its marine wealth for future generations.
