Smart farming using the internet of things (IoT)

Smart farming using the internet of things (IoT) – Everything starts from engineering studies and the vision of the startup’s members to improve the aquaculture and agriculture sectors by monitoring environmental parameters:
Make sustainable farming through developing communities knowledge, by offering new smart farming solutions to increase productivity and quality.

Actually the company operate in Egypt, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates.

The monitoring systems provide cutting-edge real-time online analytics that helps enhance the production efficiency and reduce consumption in aquaculture and agriculture. ReNile provides a full solution from monitoring farms, alerting in emergencies, controlling, and providing analytics of the best practice model for farming through the online platform.

ReNile aligns with 7 goals from the 17 goals of sustainability
Goal 2: Zero Hunger: ReNile helps to maximize the farmed food production and decrease the gap between the resources consumption of food production.
Goal 3: Good Health and Wellbeing: ReNile helps in enhancing the food quality and decreasing the use of chemicals on farms which affect directly human health.
Goal 6: Clean water and sanitation: ReNile monitors the water quality on a real-time base and take the right action to save clean water before, after, and inside farms.
Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and infrastructure: Online monitoring and control of farms on real-time databases supported by ReNile is now an important item to be added to the farm infrastructure.
Goal 13: Climate action: ReNile plays a vital role in carbon mitigation especially saving the consumption of fossil fuel by optimizing the number of working hours for all machines depending on data-driven actions.
Goal 14: Life below water: ReNile enhance the environmental conditions for fishes by monitoring the main parameters and giving the right actions to be within the right boundaries for each species.
Goal 15: Life on Land: ReNile assists the environment in taking rid of any non-important fertilizers in the farming and decreasing the consumption of feed, saving the natural resources.

Let’s find out about this technology, its components and how it works:

The system is based on sensor full solution to monitor, alert, analyze collected data from farms totally through online application in addition to having the ability to predict the actual needs for the farm and forecast the profit. loT Devices support farm by measuring water quality, soil and crop status like humidity and temperature and so on.

Software:

Monitoring system: The farmer has dashboards to monitor 24/7 the farm parameters through a platform.

Hardware:

ReNile manufacture all of its systems locally in Egypt starting from the design phase till manufacturing and installing systems in farms depending on AI, Embedded systems and IoT technology.

Water systems:

ReNile provides an end-to-end solution for farmers to manage their farms online, in addition to having the ability to predict the actual needs of the farm and control all equipment depending on the measured parameters.
The solution is based on monitoring sensors installed in the farm that measure some parameters, such as pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), water electrical conductivity (EC), Salinity, and temperature.
All measured parameters are sent in real-time messages and notifications to
the farmer reporting any problem regarding the farm and instructions to solve
the problem.

Soil Systems:

An IoT system used to Manage and control different parameters of soil like Nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (NPK), pH, Electric conductivity (EC), Temperature and Moisture content in various applications and in smart irrigation system. The device is used to detect the actual need of fertilizers and water and the health of plants by measuring the pH and total dissolved solids in the land.
The system is also used to identify the actual need of water in the land to prevent the buildings cracks due to water excess.

Air systems:

An IoT system used to Manage and control different parameters of air like Humidity, Temperature, CO2 and pressure.
In greenhouses: The device is used to detect the actual need of turn on fans, and the Humidity fire to saving the health of plants by measuring the temperature and humidity and CO2 in the greenhouse and Ammonia in Air.

Furthermore, ReNile manufacture different chemical solutions like:

Indicators:

(pH indicator, Ammonia indicator and Dissolved oxygen indicator)
For instance, the farmer uses a glass bottle to take sample of water and add some droplets of chemicals supplied by ReNile and a color appears; that colors will be compared with a palate of colors to detect the range of measurement.

Buffers and calibration solutions:

to calibrate all types of sensors like pH (4,7,10) and Electrical conductivity sensors in addition to the Zero Oxygen.
