In Morocco the first indoor shrimp farm – Among the companies dedicated to aquaculture, the Swiss NOVATON, which deals with the production and marketing of fish products and the construction and management of innovative plants, emerges for an optimistic vision of the sector. A few months ago, in fact, he started the construction of the first Vannamei white shrimp indoor farm in Morocco.

The choice of Morocco was determined by the optimal climatic conditions for aquaculture, a qualified workforce, a well-developed logistics network and proximity to the European and American markets.

The plant will be built on 15 hectares of land located in the province of Rehamna, halfway between Marrakesh and Casablanca.

The advanced technology based on a closed biological system will allow the saving of water and energy and the recycling of waste.
The environmental impact study carried out by an independent organization confirmed that the project complies with the strictest environmental standards.
The first phase of the project, already launched in October, consists of the installation of nine independent closed systems NOVASPHERE NANO. The farm is expected to start operations in the spring of 2023 to produce fifty-four tons of shrimp per year.

The second phase involves the installation of additional NOVASPHERE NANO systems to ensure a production of 400 tons of shrimp per year.
The last phase involves the construction of other plants in various locations in Morocco.

It is therefore a unique project of its kind that will have important social repercussions on the country as it opens up new employment and modernization prospects for Moroccan aquaculture.
The production of sustainable and excellent quality shrimp, as the company has announced, will be destined for local markets and exports.
