CONXEMAR 2026: Vigo at the centre of the Global Seafood Industry

CONXEMAR 2026: Vigo at the centre of the Global Seafood Industry –  From 6 to 8 October 2026, Vigo, Spain, will host the 27th Conxemar International Frozen Seafood Exhibition, bringing together companies and professionals from across the international seafood industry at IFEVI – Instituto Ferial de Vigo.

Recognised as a major meeting point for the sector, Conxemar connects the different segments of the seafood processing value chain, including wholesalers, importers, exporters, processors, manufacturers, distributors, cold storage operators, machinery suppliers and auxiliary industries.

The international dimension of the event was clearly demonstrated by its 2025 edition, which registered a record 30,405 visitors and 812 exhibitors from 46 countries.

FAO GLOBEFISH at CONXEMAR 2026

FAO GLOBEFISH will participate in CONXEMAR 2026 from 6 to 8 October, with its presence located in Hall 8.

Established in 1984 within the Fisheries and Aquaculture Division of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), GLOBEFISH produces and disseminates up-to-date information and analysis on trade and markets for fisheries and aquaculture products.

It also promotes information exchange among the seafood industry, governments, academia and other stakeholders worldwide, providing a platform for capacity building, coordination and dialogue.

Its participation in Vigo therefore provides an opportunity for professionals attending Conxemar to connect with FAO GLOBEFISH and discuss current developments affecting fisheries and aquaculture markets.

Aquatic trade under pressure: regional responses to global disruption

A key appointment during the exhibition will be the Conxemar–FAO–FISHINFONetwork Session:

“Aquatic trade under pressure: Regional responses to global disruption”

📅 7 October 2026
🕥 10:30–11:20 CEST
📍 Platea, IFEVI – Instituto Ferial de Vigo, Spain

The session will bring the FISHINFONetwork dimension into the discussion, providing an opportunity to consider regional perspectives on developments affecting international aquatic trade.

FAO GLOBEFISH works closely with the FISHINFONetwork, whose regional organisations contribute to the exchange of market information and knowledge concerning fisheries and aquaculture products across different regions of the world.

The importance of this exchange was also visible during Conxemar 2025, when a dedicated FISHINFONetwork session provided regional market and trade insights from INFOPÊCHE, INFOFISH, INFOSAMAK, INFOPESCA and EUROFISH.

The Conxemar–FAO–MAPA International Congress

The dialogue will begin one day before the exhibition.

On 5 October 2026, Vigo will host the 14th Conxemar–FAO–MAPA International Congress, under the theme:

“Smart Blue Leadership – Efficiency, intelligence and global standards for a committed industry”

According to Conxemar, the Congress will bring together international experts to examine key challenges and opportunities shaping the future of aquatic food products.

The official programme places international trade, artificial intelligence, digital traceability, consumer trends, the Blue Economy and innovation at the centre of the discussions.

The Congress therefore provides a strategic introduction to the three-day exhibition, connecting high-level dialogue on the future of the sector with the international business community gathering in Vigo.

CONXEMAR: an international meeting point for the seafood sector

Conxemar describes its International Frozen Seafood Exhibition as a meeting point for the entire processing sector.

Its continued growth reflects the international dimension of the event. The 2025 edition occupied the full 37,000 m² available at IFEVI and welcomed 812 exhibitors from 46 countries.

For its 27th edition, Conxemar will once again bring together international companies and professionals in Vigo, providing a space for commercial exchange, knowledge generation and the creation of new opportunities across the seafood industry.

The presence of FAO GLOBEFISH adds an important market-information dimension to this international gathering, connecting the exhibition with FAO’s work on fisheries and aquaculture trade and markets.

Blue Life Hub perspective

For Blue Life Hub, the combination of CONXEMAR, the Conxemar–FAO–MAPA International Congress and the FAO GLOBEFISH/FISHINFONetwork session makes Vigo particularly relevant for professionals working across fisheries, aquaculture and seafood value chains.

The three events provide complementary perspectives: the international seafood industry and its commercial actors; institutional and expert dialogue on emerging sector issues; and market information and regional knowledge exchange.

Following these discussions offers an opportunity to better understand how international markets, technologies, standards and sector cooperation are evolving and how these developments relate to fisheries and aquaculture value chains in different regions.
