A new chapter with Hadeer Amer Elkhouly as Chief Editor of Blue Life Hub

A new chapter with Hadeer Amer Elkhouly as Chief Editor of Blue Life Hub – As founder of Blue Life Hub, I see this moment as one of the most important milestones in our journey. When I first started the magazine, my dream was to create a platform where the voices of the Mediterranean and Africa could meet and share their experiences in the Blue Economy. Today, with the appointment of Hadeer Amer Elkhouly as Chief Editor, I feel a deep sense of pride and satisfaction.

This new structure reflects a stronger vision: one that grows between the Mediterranean and Africa. I am convinced that real strategies must be built together with partners who understand the complexity of coastal development; its potential, its challenges, and the ways of thinking of its people. The Mediterranean and African coasts are vast and diverse, rich in cultural heritage and economic dynamism, and they require strategies that start from within. This choice demanded determination and sacrifice, but it gives Blue Life Hub a clearer direction for the future. And I believe Hadeer is the right person to guide us on this course.

The new editorial voice

Hadeer Amer Elkhouly is already well known to our readers. She joined Blue Life Hub as editor for North Africa and quickly became a key contributor, capturing the human side of the Blue Economy. By telling the stories of women, youth, innovators, and coastal communities, she reminded us that the Blue Economy is not just about numbers and policies, it is about people, resilience, and shared futures.

Hadeer is an aquaculture specialist and marine educator from Egypt, currently pursuing her master’s at Alexandria University. Through Blue Life Hub, she has been recognized among the influential women in Mediterranean aquaculture on the occasion of Coast Day 2024, within the framework of the ActForMed programme – Barcelona Convention. She also serves as Communication Lead for ECOP Africa Ocean Literacy, Communications Specialist for Ethical Seafood Research, and now Chief Editor of Blue Life Hub. Her experience and vision make her the perfect choice to lead this next chapter.

A project built on stories and connections

Under her leadership, Blue Life Hub is documenting tradition, cultural heritage, innovative solutions, best practices, and case studies that illustrate how human activities shape economies and daily life in coastal villages. Through field visits, interviews, photos, and testimonies, we are building a mosaic of experiences from 2023 to 2025.

These stories are not meant to remain isolated. They will be shared across a network of coastal communities to foster knowledge exchange and encourage the replication of successful strategies. Even though this phase is still at the beginning, we are already building strong connections with communities around the Mediterranean and Africa, gathering testimonies that show how sustainable practices can improve both livelihoods and ecosystems.

Looking ahead

This is not only an editorial change, it is a turning point. Blue Life Hub is being strengthened to become more than a magazine: it is a platform where knowledge, innovation, tradition, and people come together to shape the future of the Blue Economy.

Our message is simple and powerful: the Blue Economy is about people, their stories, their traditions, and their future. With Hadeer leading our editorial direction, I am confident that Blue Life Hub will continue to grow as the space where these voices are heard and amplified to the world.
