Announced the renewal of the recognition of the egyptian CLAR (Central Laboratory for Aquaculture Research) as African Union Center of Excellence for Aquaculture – Dr. Refaat El-Gamal, Director of the Central Laboratory for Aquaculture Research (CLAR) in Egypt, announced the renewal of the recognition of the CLAR as African Union Center of Excellence for Aquaculture. The accreditation was awarded to the Director by of Dr. Huyam Salih, Chairman of the African Union Commission for Animal Production AU-IBAR.

The Director asserted that this recognition is crucially relevant since it enables the Central Laboratory to be recognized as high level-accredited training center for the benefit of the whole African continent. Dr. Refaat considered that this achievement concurs in the implementation of the national strategy and the vision of the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture to improve the training system. Indeed, since the Central Laboratory can boast distinguished scientific professorships in the field of aquaculture, feed manufacturing, health and disease, and genetic sciences for aquatic organisms, the accreditation is related to the great confidence in this expertise to contribute to the national ‘agenda success.

Moreover, this step contributed to the objectives of the African Union Agenda 2063 considering blue economy, food security, nutrition, livelihoods, and wealth creation.
