Egypt unanimously elected as a member of the FAO Council

The ministerial conference of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), which was held in Rome from 1- 7 July, unanimously elected Egypt to become a member of the organization’s council for the next three years until 2026.

Egypt unanimously elected as a member of the FAO Council

Egypt unanimously elected as a member of the FAO Council – Egypt’s ambassador to Italy and its permanent representative to the United Nations organizations in Rome, Bassam Rady, said that Egypt was unanimously elected by the current ministerial conference of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to membership in the organization’s council for the next 3 years until one year. 2026.

Rady emphasized that the step comes in appreciation of the Egyptian state’s remarkable efforts in the field of agriculture, food security, increasing land reclamation, water management, and applying the latest modern irrigation methods. According to the Middle East News Agency.

He added that the FAO Council is the most important governing body of the organization, and it includes a number of countries with long-standing and successful expertise and experience in these areas.
Egypt pays the utmost attention to the issue of water, both in terms of the preservation, development and good management of its historical water resources, as Egypt launched in a year 2021 under the leadership of President Sisi a strategy for managing water resources up to a year2050 and linking food security and water security. Egypt was also keen to include water security topics at the cop-27 world climate summit with international partners.
Egypt has adopted many initiatives to achieve food security and address challenges related to water security and climate change, , His Excellency President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has launched the “Decent Life” initiative, which is considered the project of the century without the slightest exaggeration, as it aims to change the face of life in the Egyptian countryside and the most needy communities and improve the standard of living for about 60 million Egyptian citizens.
